How To Decorate With Patterns: 3 Major Secrets!
Patterns can be beautiful but tricky to decorate with, unless you know what you’re doing! Ever feel like decorating with patterns may be out of your league design-wise? Don’t fret! These easy, pro-approved secrets will explain everything you need to know to decorate your own home with patterns and bold style!
Step 1: Start From Big To Small Patterns
When using patterns, you have to scale the patterns properly. Its easy: for Pattern #1 choose a large-scale, bold pattern for the largest area. Pattern #2 should be half the scale of the first pattern. Pattern #3 should be the smallest or can be a combination of the first 2 pattern sizes.

Step 2: Choose The Colors Properly
Try to pick 2-3 colors for a color scheme. Once you have chosen your dominant pattern, the second pattern should pick up the colors from the first. If your dominant pattern has large pink and purple roses, then the second pattern can be a pink geometric. The third pattern should combine all the colors (pink and purple) to tie it all together.

Step 3: Combine Solids With Your Patterns
Still not sure about using patterns? Take a complimentary or matching solid color to tie it in together. Painting your walls one color will make your patterns seem less daring, and softens the entire look. By adding in solid colors, your patterns will stand out as well as give the eyes a place to rest.
